Open Competition Saturday 13 September 2025
Terms & Conditions
1. The competition will be held between 9am and 4.30pm on Saturday 13th September.
2. Please register in advance using the button below.
3. Applications will close on Friday, September 12th at 6pm.
4. Entry fee £5 - payable on the day.
5. The competition is for those aged 16 and over.
6. Prizes:
a. There will be a prize of £100 for the judges’ selected winner
b. The public will be invited to vote for their favourite - there will be a separate prize of £50 for the People’s Choice winner.
7. Artworks must be entirely created on the day of the contest; A3 or smaller; 2D drawing or painting – models or sculptures will not be accepted.
8. Entry is between 9 and 10am at St Nicolas Church, Market Square Abingdon on Saturday 13th. Please bring your paper or canvas to be stamped and pay your entry fee.
Find a great spot in Abingdon and paint/draw some of our town’s fantastic architecture, inside or out. Bring your artwork back to St Nicolas Church between 1pm and 2.30pm. You can give your painting a title, price and leave your contact details if you would like it to be for sale. Anyone interested will contact you directly.
Between 2.30-4pm the public will be invited to see the art and vote for their favourite.
Judging by the Mayor, President of Abingdon Artists and artist Geoff Dunbar will take place at 4pm.
All winners will be announced at 4.30.
Artwork can be collected after the prize-winners have been announced and should be taken away by 5pm.
The competition will run in the wet or dry so please dress appropriately. Any money remaining after costs will be donated to a local charity.
